The Magic is Over (or is it?)

Alas, the FA LA LA season is coming to a close. No more gingerbread houses (some made with flour and water when the icing was not gluey enough), twinkling lights on houses and trees, cookie days with Shaw ladies, batches and batches of red velvet cupcakes, Starbucks holiday drinks (though take it from this barista the syrups last for a while so you can still ask for them), Christmas carols on the radio (shout out to IG for the whole version of "O Holy Night' Christmas Eve....wonderful!!!!, PRESENTS (did i mention i got everything and more...thanks sista' Li and Santa!)....So you can see how it would feel like the whole magic of the FA LA LA season has ended.
But has it?
Tonight I went on a stroll around my fantastic little neighborhood. The air was brisk and the wind...well magical. It seemed as though I needed to pay attention and stay attentive to the moment. As I was walking two things stood out: First a cozily lit cottage and in the window a little blonde girl playing with her Daddy (sigh...) Second, three little girls riding their bikes. One yells out, "Have you ever danced in the rain?" to her little friends. Then they see me and each call out, "Happy New Year!"
Pause.
In that moment I felt the Spirit gently prod; "Beloved. Dance in the rain. Be in the moment. Trust my provision."
Before this walk I had been reviewing some journal writing in '08 and what emphatically stood out was how much God was building in me to trust in His portion. Not what i think I want or need but more a moment by moment trust in his provision in the portion He deems good. That is hard cuz sometimes we differ on what that means. But those girls and the open longing of watching that dad and little girl--I just sensed, "I am good. Be in the moment. See my goodness in the now. Dance."
So this year I wanna dance--rain or shine. Be present to the magic that is still all around---I just need to look.

What a magical year it will be indeed. I'm calling this The Year the Lord Provides! I think we can both claim that this year!
