Sacred Moment Monday

I wrote this today, after meeting with my spiritual director, about the sacred moment that had just happened when my firing thoughts and inwardness slowed down to give Jesus entry or, rather, remind me He's already there. A pinball machine was the best image that seemed to capture my soul turned inward, weary from darting in and out trying to figure things out about myself, contrasted by the joy I was feeling when things quieted down to experience the p e a c e of Christ that was already there.

The ball pings and pangs back and forth, back and forth. Bumping up against self-resolve, analysis, and defeat.  She determinately shoots out, trying to anticipate the opening and force her way through.

Surely there's a pattern to this maze.

The ball patters quickly, dinging loud, the ball quickly sinking, d

                                                                                                        w
                                                                                                           n...
                                                                                                    d
                                                                                                       o
                                                                                                         w
                                                                                                            n...

P-i-n-g, p-a-n-g! She darts in and out, doorways open and close, frazzling inside and out.

B-o-i-n-k, b-o-n-k! The ball bangs through hitting up against the shields at war in you.

The ball falls back and slides d
                                               o
                                                   w
                                                      n...
                                                d
                                                   o
                                                     w
                                                        n....

Furrowed brow and "sorting it out," entangle the path of expanse ahead.

She sees but the challenges and roadblocks ahead, weary the game, this firing off in her head.

Releasing her grip, softening her stare, she lays off the controllers, a new game in the air.

Looking through the same maze an opening is seen.

Shooting out not so quickly, she whirls and glides.

Not anticipating or striving, but enjoying the ride.

P-i-n-g, p-a-n-g! B-o-i-n-k, b-o-n-k!

An opening ahead, she rolls on by

The game suddenly silent, she glides on through, the path opened up, ...

The prize waiting for you!

I really like the pinball picture and thoughts. Yes, life
often seems like a pinball game with us trying to move around to the right places without being zonked.... RCS
